Anthony Finta was born in Neptune, New Jersey in 1964. He grew up mostly in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, and briefly attended New York University in 1985. In 1991 he returned to New York city to study painting and sculpture at the School of Visual Arts and nearly graduated in 1995.

At SVA he studied mostly with sculptors and was influenced particularly by Alice Aycock and the husband and wife team of Jones & Ginzel. He was a classmate of noted contemporary artist Toland Grinell among others.

Since 2005 he has split his time between Florence, Italy and New Jersey. Some of his latest works are below.
